I. About us

The Open Repository of National Natural Science Foundation of China (a.k.a. NSFC-OR), which serves as an important academic research infrastructure, collects research papers under fully or partially NSFC-funded projects, and provides open access to the repository for general public, with the goal of promoting the latest research findings in fundamental subjects and advancing the development of science and technology.

II. Search

There are multiple approaches to search in NSFC-OR.

You can take a one-click search by typing in the text box in the upper place of the Home page and clicking the Search button. You will get the search results of whatever you input, such as title, author, or keywords.

Search results

Example: Inputpolymericand click the Search button.

The Refine your search sidebar is on the left to the article list.

Click the small triangle on the right of the search button, an Advanced search box will roll down for adding or removing a filter to refine the search results.

In the initial phase, there is no filters. Input some text, choose in what field you want to search and a proper logic operator, you can start an advanced-search. If you want to add more search-criterias, just click Add button to add a filter.



As a filter is added, you will get updated search results. All filters available at the moment are listed below the search box. The filters here looks like exactly the Narrow your search results options discussed before.

To remove a filter, click the button next to it.

Now that one or more filters added, typing some text in the search box and click Search will not do a casual search with the text only but also a compound one with the filters added.

Example: Input 王峰 when you have added two filters that test the titles if they contain 蛋白 and 表达. The results may look like below.

Open the Advanced search* box and add another filter until all you need are done.

Click the button next to a filter in the Current filters list if you are removing it.

If you have no filter to add or remove, click Return simple search to close the Advanced search box.


III. Browse

There are various ways to browse articles in the NSFC-OR.


Home: Data Facts

In the lower part of the Home page, Data Facts shows four colomns of rankings information of the most fruitful Subjects, Grant names, Publishers, and institutions. Click any link to begin a search with a filter of it.

Browse: Subject


Click the first option in Browse - Subject, you will get a list of subjects and the number of academic achievements within them.

Then click any subject to browse the articles of it.

Browse: By Category

  1. Browse items by Issue Date
    This will list all articles sorted by their issue dates, either from older to newer (Ascending) or from newer to older (Descending). You can jump to a point in the index by choosing a year and month, or by typing four digits as a year.

  2. Browse items by Author
    This will list all authors sorted by their names in alphabetic order, either from A to Z (Ascending) or from Z to A (Descending). You can jump to a point in the index by entering the first one or few more characters (Roman letters or Chinese hanzi), i.e. for authors whose names initialed with .
    Notes: Chinese characters are sorted in the CJK/Unicode sequence rather than in Chinese pinyin. Entering the Chinese hanzi is advised for browsing the names in Chinese.

  3. Browse items by Title
    This will list all articles sorted by their titles in alphabetic order, either from A to Z (Ascending) or from Z to A (Descending). You can jump to a point in the index by entering the first one or few more letters of the whole title.

  4. Browse items by Keyword
    This will list all keywords used in all of the articles in the NSFC-OR. You can locate a certain keyword in this large page by using the search funtion of your Web browser. Click any of them to search articles with the keyword you click.

  5. Browse items by Institution
    This will list all institutions sorted by their names in alphabetic order, either from A to Z (Ascending) or from Z to A (Descending). You can jump to a point in the index by entering the first one or few more characters (Roman letters or Chinese hanzi), i.e. for institutions whose names initialed with .
    Notes: Chinese characters are sorted in the CJK/Unicode sequence rather than in Chinese pinyin. Clicking next or previous below the list to see all of them is advised.


IV. Article details

This page lists the properties of an article item.

Example: search the article with the title of Ecological scale and seasonal heterogeneity in the spatial behaviors of giant pandas and what you can get maybe like below.
